Not often I find an article so worth copying. It won't be verbatim, but this appeared in Woman's Day and I thought it was a hoot. We are always looking for ways to burn calories! And most of those ways involve exercise we really don't want to do. But --- what if there was a way to burn that caloric nonsense that might actually be enjoyable?
Let's think back to dating days - quite a trip in time for a lot of us, but humor me. You glowed. You'd often forget to eat. You were in a constant state of OMG I love this feeling! Here is a list of the calories you were burning up then, without probably caring.
8 calories - undressing
68 calories per hour - kissing
80+ calories per hour - massage
144+ calories per hour - having sex
103 Calories per half hour - romantic dancing
238 calories per half hour - making out
(these numbers based on a 150 pound woman)
Kind of weird you'd burn LESS actually "doing it" but there is something about having that heart rate up during a hot and steamy make out session that burns up those calories, 238 per half hour!
"The hotter the room - think Bikram (a.k.a. "hot" yoga) - and the sweatier the make-out session, the more calories you burn" says Jaiya Kinzbach, an L.A. based sexologist and author of "Red Hot Touch". "Also try rolling around on the bed or changing your scenery. Make it playful and erotic and you have a great combination for a pleasurable workout."
I wanted to end this year with something fun - yet helpful. This seemed to fill that and it is probably something you would not have expected here, right? Gotta keep everyone on their toes!
If working out more is on your list of "intentions" for the New Year, well, here ya go! Regardless of HOW you work out in 2013, as Nike says "Just Do It!"
Sounds yum. Well, here's to a lovely 2013. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
Joy always,
Susan
Glad you liked it - I wanted to end this year's posts with something FUN since I'm always touting the benefits of exercise. Couldn't resist this! Have a healthy, happy 2013! Also thanks for reading AND commenting! It's so appreciated!
DeleteWho would have thunk it was so easy and FUN to burn calories? *smile* Thanks for this post, SuZen!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
DeleteYep, who'da thunk it? If people complain about THIS exercise routine there is no hope of them ever reaching any cardio stimulation! Man, this beats a diet too! :) Wishing you all the bestest ever for 2013! We definitely WILL get together this summer!
Sex for the health of it! And a great way to ring in the New Year, to boot!
ReplyDeleteIt's Laurie Buchanan from Speaking from the Heart. It wouldn't let me leave a response any way other than anonymous?...
LOL, Hi Laurie! I have no clue what's going on with either of my computers today. Can't open my mail on my laptop. There really ARE a lot of benefits to sex. Since I share all the other stuff, thought I'd throw this in just to wake everyone up! ha!
DeleteOh I loved this one...and since our house is always cold, I am always hungry these days. !! Two of my daughters are in love and also skiing over the holidays - they certainly did eat huge portions!
ReplyDeletewhat a hoot
Happy New Year
Hi Patricia, What a hoot, indeed. It was just too cute not to do a post on this for the people out there intent on calorie burns! Ha!
DeleteWell, that might be a great pick up line--ha! Until I find someone to make out with, I will have to stick to my less sexy activities!
ReplyDeleteHi Galen,
DeleteI hear ya! But yes, great pick up line. Too bad more guys aren't reading this! Thanks for stopping by - I love your blog!
You are so funny! This was a written "happy ending" to 2012 -- Now, in 2013 I know exactly how to get my guy to exercise and diet at the same time. Wise words from a wise woman:~)
ReplyDeletep.s. It is odd that making out burns so many calories. What even stranger is how they figured all this out:~)
Hi Sara,
DeleteThey used heart monitors I'm sure. Your heart rate stays elevated and steady all during making out - the "other" it peaks and falls.
So now that you KNOW this, go lock lips with that man! Have a great New Year!
You have no idea how much I love this post! Now that the family has moved out of my house, I can put a little more oomph into undressing...and those hot, steamy make out sessions with my husband are back in play!
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy - LOL so GLAD you stopped by! I kinda thought you'd appreciate this one, haha. You just never know what I'm going to blog about do ya? This was too good to ignore! You just have fun with that calorie burn now! :)
ReplyDeleteAmen Sistah. Good to know I'm already on the right track for 2013 according to Today's Path!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing this article. So much good Information. I have adopted a alkaline lifestyle as a means to keep my osteoporosis in check. I was able to reverse the process and I am living a healthy life. I started writing recipes of alkaline foods. Please check out my site at cookalkaline.com. I used everyday foods that we are all familiar with.
Best,
Sari
