I read recently that China, (of all the places eh?) is rejecting GMO's. They would be joining most of the European Union. There are more food scandals in China than we have here, but people are people. Nobody wants to get poisoned by the food they put on their dinner tables!
The media, here and I guess in China too, never really reveals the truth about our foods or GMO's either for that matter. And why? Because the large corporations control everything, the media and the government. What is going on in the food industry is pure greed for those top 1% while the 99% still has to eat, so we eat their lousy food - phude. Well, some do. I don't and I know most of my readers are reading labels and chosing wisely. Because the status quo continues on and on I would have to say we are probably the minority.
I don't know what it is going to take. It's rather like David attacking Goliath. But hey, the little guy won, didn't he? People speaking up, screaming actually, got rid of the pink slime in school meat. I clapped and whoo-hooo'd myself silly over that. YES! The power of the people speaking up! We do not have to take this altered food (phude) and serve it up for dinner and believe the nonsense about its safety. We don't keel over dead on the spot from consumption or it would be far easier to prove that this chemically laden food supply is causing tremendous increases in disease and illness.
I post articles on Facebook that are continual wake up calls. GMO studies (the REAL ones not funded by the same crappy companies that manufacter this stuff) show second generation STERILITY, TUMORS and ORGAN DAMAGE from consuming GMO's. Isn't that enough to wake folks up?
There are petitions on line all the time - Green America, Organic Consumers Association, Institute for Responsible Technology have all had them. There IS progress being made with these. Please take a moment out of your busy life to find them, sign them, forward them to friends and keep this progress going.
Unfortunately I could not get the video to load but here is the link to the article. This is more evidence that people all over the world are concerned about food safety.
Following a series of food scandals in China, experts claim that consumers are demanding to be told more about what ends up on their dinner tables. Not only food companies, but also the media are being pressured to reveal more information.

The days of passivity and trust and over where our food is concerned. DEMAND better! Your voice is a valuable asset. Let's save future generations, if not our own, from the consequences of GMOs.
As always -- DELICIOUS food for thought!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie. I just don't get why this anti-GMO movement isn't a bigger deal in the US. People are so apathetic I could scream.
DeleteYep, I have been signing and sharing petitions against Monsanto :( :( :( for quite awhile now. Dr. Mercola is collecting money to help California pass the GMO labeling act and if that passes-----wow, what a big blow to the big boys! Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteHi Jean,
DeleteWell we can certainly HOPE (and help fund) the efforts going on in California. Knowing the power/money that those big guys have, yes it would be a HUGE coup to win this!
Yes, i read that before, there is an article that states that Monsanto company topped as the worst company in 2011. They are known for their GMO products.
DeleteHi Christine,
DeleteI've written a LOT about Monsanto and GMO's. They sure are the worst company EVER! Hope you aren't eating GMO's! There are pesticides inside the DNA of the plants that are GMO. Dangerous stuff!
I have been signing so many things lately and in my post today I talk about quitting for "hateful" reasons...I do feel a sense of apathy right now...like why bother?
ReplyDeleteI get tons of cysts and I am sure it is related to food and the environment....I do not get so many now that I just eat organic since I was pregnant with my first child.
I was gone to graduation at SFSU last week and heard 25 -2 min. speeches from the faculty ...they were certainly working on getting students interested and voting....public education is strength and not private greed... CA has that vote coming up also
What strange times we in so dwell
I sent this post to my email list. This is from my friend who moved to Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI just did amarie (? This must be a Mexican word as Cynthia K. lives in Mex. City.) report about the incursions of Monsanto and their pesticide Round Up. Yes, it harms people. Also, it has decreased the number of Monarch butterflies. It gets into the birds, bees and flowers and wrecks havoc on natural species. This transnational Monsanto gives bribes, spies, sends police, causes suicides in poor countries, damages health, etc and no one, least of all the United states which lets Monsanto run wild, does anything. Plants from Monsanto are transgenetically changed. Don't know how you say this in English but the structure of the plant is changed. Monsanto has the patent and if the seeds, because of the wind, or whatever, get into another farmer's property, that person has to pay Monsanto. Also, every fall the farmer has to buy new seeds and it's expensive. The problem is Monsanto's insecticide, Round Up. A French farmer sued Monsanto for damages to his nervous system and won. In the U.S. no one is really regulating Monsanto. Here the plants have infected all of the traditional corn from the state of `Oaxaca. Monsanto bribed the government to be able to plant their corn in 6 states. Also, Mexico was a strong exporter of honey. Now the honey is contaminated and the European Union does not want Mexico's honey. The growers are suing the government. Cynthia K. (My friend who moved to Mex. 20 yrs. ago)

Hi Cynthia,
ReplyDeletePainfully aware of the whole Monsanto debacle. I took classes from Jeffrey Smith at the Institute of Responsible Technology on GMO's to be a speaker. It is criminal what they've done, and continue to do and how our government just lets them - THAT really bugs me. It's all about the money. Too bad they are wrecking the planet and everything on it! Oh don't get me going!
