Sparky on Made in China

Before the official end of 2010 I need to take a poll to see if I am the only one choking!

I ordered a sweater on line from an Ebay store.  It was Made in China.  It arrived smelling so foul I quickly took it to the washateria and soaked it in Woolite, then washed it on gentle.  It came out still smelling.  I repeated this three times and ended up throwing the sweater out.  Figured it was a fluke.  This was early in the year.

Since then, I'd noticed a lot of my clothes (NEW ones) getting that pilling effect after only a few washes.  All bore the label Made in China.  Getting a bit paranoid at this point.

During my Xmas shopping (September) I started looking at labels in earnest.  I swear nearly everything I looked at was Made in China.  It didn't matter what store I was in or how much the item was - this label was EVERYwhere!  Where are the Made in USA labels?  Do we make NOTHING here?

What totally freaked me out was the night I had fireworks in bed.  I put on NEW (laundered) sheets 100 per cent cotton, 400 thread count,  and NEW (laundered) cotton flannel pj's.  I woke up in the middle of night when my turning in bed caused so much static electricity it was like a Fourth of July.  I thought I'd get sparked to death!  Every move I made sparked!

This will happen with acrylics and polyesters as everyone knows - but these sheets and pj's were cotton - or so the label said!  The label also said Made in China.

The next night I changed the sheets back to old ones and put on other pj's.  No problem.  No sparks.

Now I hate to call the Made in China people LIARS, but I do not believe for a nanosecond that the sheets or pj's are 100 per cent cotton.   I have NEVER sparked wearing cotton!   I am on a vigilant hunt to purchase things NOT Made in China because I have had it with their crap.  And good luck to me finding Made in USA. eh?  It isn't easy.  Seems we make nothing here or else we are sending it all to China in exchange.  If this is fair trade nonsense, we are getting screwed!

I thought, ok, I can sew so I'll just make my own stuff.  Caution buying fabric too!  A pathetic amount of THAT comes from China!

Is anyone out there having a problem with this label?  Or can you recommend brands/stores that are not infused with Chinese imports?  I think this is nuts!

Hugs,
Sparky

Food Matters - Yes it DOES!

For a bit about health vs. disease, here are a few wonderful words from comedian Bill Maher first - then another good clip.  This says it all!

Here's a video - a promo clip for a movie I just ordered.   You ARE what you EAT!

Food DOES matter - we have choices all the time.  And the time has come for everyone to realized this.   Disease does not just randomly happen.  Nor does it happen "suddenly" or when we age.  It is a process that begins from malnourishment.  Hard as it is to believe, we are a country of malnourished people.  We simply are NOT eating what we our bodies need to function and be healthy.

As the New Year is approaching, please, for your sake, make a resolution to take care of yourself - read food labels, stay away from processed foods, GMO's, bottled water, artificial anything!

Christmas Shopping - Not Just Another Day at the Mall!

It's that time of year again - Christmas shopping!  I'm not a fan of crowded stores or taking a half hour to find a parking spot.  I start squirreling away presents in September and I'm ususally "all wrapped up" way before Thanksgiving.

Since our two kids are adults now, we thought we save them going nuts by trying to find presents for me and hubs.   We don't need anything.  So I suggested to them a few months ago that they should make a contribution to our food pantry or any charity of their choice and just give us a card.  Giving to those in need is the REAL giving that warms the heart!

IA friend sent me this video I thought I would share.  A very surprised Christmas shopping crowd - and though I hate crowded malls, I sure would have loved this!
May you all have a simply HOLL LAY LOU YA kind of shopping for Christmas!

D is for Disception

I was horrified listening to the news and the latest smear campaign of our government to poo-poo Vitamin D.  I will confess I was almost waiting for this - and NOT in a good way.  Not your happy anticipation!

There have been soooo many really great strides in research, all well publicized of late, on the benefits of Vitamin D.  In the past year alone, many people have become aware of their deficiency in this vital vitamin - in fact my physician was even testing his patients to see what their D levels were in January!  Hubs and I were the only patients he had that did NOT have a deficiency because we take it regularly.  On Mercola.com there is a one-hour presentation on the benefits of Vitamin D to PREVENT illness and disease and Dr. Mercola says low levels of vitamin D may increase your risk of dying from ANY illness by 150 percent!  So what's with the schmear?  DUH!  If you aren't taking it daily, do it.  It's way cheaper than developing disease, not to mention easy.  Don't be deceived by this distracting/confusing blast of publicity.  Consider the source!

If you haven't heard this  "latest news"  "they" are saying that there is no shortage of Vitamin D in the Amercian people, that taking it is futile, in fact can be dangerous.  Clearly the powers that be are trying to undermine public confidence, shake people up, confuse them and once again MISinform everyone!  If you believe this latest schmear, you are being deceived!  My God, if we all take vitamins and eat healthy food as preventative medicine then just WHO would be taking drugs?  So far they cannot patent Vitamins so there is no money to be made for big Pharma.  And that, my friends, is what this is all about - money.  "They" are spending a lot on this schmear to insure their continued future incomes from the sick American people they love to manipulate and control and get rich off of.

Then there is this ridiculous bill they passed in the Senate - S510, the phoney baloney Food Safety Bill!  I signed petitions, wrote my Senator, called Washington.  Sadly, not enough people thought this bill was worthy of their time and concern.  Gee, it sounded good - food safety - sure we need food safety!  Well yes indeed we do need food safety, but this bill cleverly and on purpose omitted the very causes of most of our problems!

For instance, 70% of grocery store chicken has salmonella.  They didn't mention this.  I think this is a food safety problem, don't you?  The factory farms feed chickens pesticide ridden, hormone enhanced and antibiotic laced GMO crap.  (If you aren't choosing organic meats or doing the vegetarian thing, you eat that too when you consume the chicken.)  This isn't "safe" food!

Their emphasis was on Fresh Food safety.  On the surface I agree with this ---- as long as you address the reason WHY spinach fields became contaminated - which they didn't.  It is the factory farms of animals and the rivers of waste (poo) that flow into neighboring farm fields and the water supply.  They want spinach farmers (for an example) to fill out more FORMS and they will by-golly enforce that!  Meanwhile making veggie farmers the culprits in their distorted, disceptive plan.  How twisted!

Here is where it gets really, really good.  There is a main section of this bill that addresses (are you sitting down?) Food Smuggling!  It seems rather a chuckle until you figure out just where these devils of deception are going with this!  They now have the power to criminalize fresh produce production and arresting people for transporting broccoli with "intent to distribute"!  How's that for your future?  As Mike Adams pointed out in his article on Natural News about this, we may be meeting our farmers in clandestine places to exchange carrots for cash!

The only goods news about this is the Senate attached a tax increase when they passed this bill to the Congress and hopefully that alone will keep it from passing - it could be that it will be re-written in 2011 so there IS hope!  We really need to pay attention to what is going on with this before it is too late to do anything about it.

So starting adding this up. The government is going on a publicity campaign to get people to forget about Vitamin D as anything significant at all.  Then this same government, in the same week, ALMOST passes this bill (when most people are sleeping) that doesn't address the main cause of food contamination - the big animal farms -but instead is chipping away at the fresh produce farmers.  They want it all sterilized, irradicated and probably  as DEAD as the processed food in the grocery stores.

Do you garden?  I know I'll be increasing the size of my veggie garden come spring!  And buying local at the farmers market.

We've all heard that passing legislation is like making sausage, but the safety of our food and the future of small, local and organic food producers is too important to be left to a last-minute process that could give powerful lobbyists the opportunity to perform 12th hour slights of hand.

Please call your Senator and tell them that the Food Safety Modernization Act is flawed - and, without the small/local/organic amendments, potentially dangerous - legislation. Ask Congress to instead encourage the FDA to fulfill its food safety obligations under existing law. Currently, the FDA only inspects 1% of the imports and 25% of the processing facilities in their charge, but seems to have unlimited resources to harass Amish farmers, raid food clubs and pull over raw milk deliverers.

Take Action

And here is a link to Natural News with the list of Senators who voted for this bill.  I'd like to know where these folks get THEIR food!  And their contributions? hmmmmm
