There is nothing like a change of seasons to bring with it a whole new list of "stuff"! Seems like the past 30 years or so, May has been a month of relentless activity for me. I used to think it was because the kids were winding down the year at school and there were concerts/programs at school to attend, summer clothes to buy (why did they always outgrow LAST years?) summer trips to plan and just a flurry of this stuff I call "STUFF".
The kids have been gone from the nest for years now, and yet my May hasn't slowed down one iota! As I write this I am preparing for a grand kick off to summer o May 1st going to Arlington Race Track for the Kentucky Derby. From then on it will only FEEL like a race track for the next few months. Whether I win-place-or show by September is anyone's guess, but May is just the beginning of this race called Summer.
I will be up at the lake house for the Month of May setting up the new kitchen, painting walls and woodwork and in general redecorating the remodel. If my comments on your blogs are not as regular, please do not think I've quit on you - DSL up north is sketchy for me at best and I've pre-scheduled my own blog and will get to comments maybe once a week. I'm still HERE but the summer season - and I'm sure yours is too - a "different" kind of outdoorsy, busy and/or intentionally restful time. Whatever you do, I hope your days are filled with love and joy! (Remember to put that on your list!) Although I will be physically really busy, I do find such joy in the transformation of paint on walls. I'm re-nesting, sort of.
June will be doing what I didn't get done in May - haha! Ending with our first guests and continuing with that bed and breakfast feel for the next two months. I love it all!
Here, at Erasing, there will regular posts, phenomenal guest bloggers, book reviews, and much joy! What I'd like to know from all of YOU is kind of a survey - it would be good for me to know from my readers just what they enjoy the most about Erasing The Bored. What type of posts do YOU prefer? Seriously. Tell me! The reason I ask is there is something afloat it appears - not just me, but several bloggers I know - who are shifting content and intentions. While I've always been a rather unpredictable, spontaneous blogger, not wanting to fit in to any "niche", my passion and what I am currently studying feel like a shift coming.
And so..............?
I love watching The Kentucky Derby, with all its pomp and show! What a fun way to open the summer ... Will you be wearing a fancy Derby hat? I'd like to see a post on the festivities, and horses, of the day!
ReplyDeleteAnd I also find May busy, with the outdoor prep and maintenance of the yard and gardens. We can't do much planting here until May because of the threat of frost that we still get at night. So I'll be busy digging and planting tomatoes, eggplant, flowers, and pots in the coming weeks. Enjoy!
Hi Joanne! I attend the derby at the local track, Arlington Race Track, but the crowds and people there - yes, the hats and all, are sooo similar to actually the "real" derby. I don't do that hat thing, rather I am a blur between the paddock, ticket counter, and rail as I zip thru the races. Crowded and no seats? Doesn't matter - I never sit! Enjoy your gardening! We shouldn't plant til May either but I'm racing to get it in this week before I leave - I think race mode is typical for me! ha!
ReplyDeleteAnother horse racing fan...yeah!!!There's something magnificent about horses and their love of running.
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather is beautiful and not too windy for all the gorgeous hats you and your friends will be wearing:~)
Hi SuZen, there is something afloat in the blogging world isn't there. As in life nothing ever stays the same. Good on you for telling us what you are up to, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAbout your question, I love your blog how it is. Via your blog you tell us your preoccupations and I think as they are great keep them coming. You think about life and you share what you observe from your unique and wise view point. Is that not your niche? And thankfully you do it with humor too. If it isn't broken don't fix it and your blog is not broken but wonderful in my humble opinion. It makes us think about the issues we like to think about but not always find the time to do so. Hence you give us that thinking time which is enormously important.
So my dear friend, keep your delightful posts coming and have an absolutely lovely spring time. Hugs Wilma
Hi Suzen,
ReplyDeleteOh what fun you're going to have - the races, and the cabin. It all sounds marvelous.
As for your blog, I'm with Wilma. Just keep doing what you're doing, and if the mood strikes to mix it up, then do that, too. Just keep blogging from the heart.
((hugs))
Hello SuZen do have a wonderful time , dont forget to take a photo of your hat and I hope the weather stays nnice and sunny :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sara! They are calling for rain here on race day - who knows? But I don't do the hat thing - I'm there for the horses.
ReplyDeleteHi Wilma! Thanks for your kind words about the blog. I can't see me doing anything but what I've been doing actually. I'm a free-spirit and I write that way too - I was just curious if you all wanted more on any certain topics. I don't think I could do a "niche" kind of blog if my life depended on it! ha! Had a newspaper column years ago (locally) that was always "different" but the rules were no controversy or humor. That alone about killed me!
Hi Barbara! Seriously, I don't do hats - but fun? I do that! ha!
Hi SuZen .. be a free spirit .. tying oneself down can be restricting and limiting .. you have boundaries.
ReplyDeleteSounds as though the summer will be hard work, satisfying once it's done, and then enjoyable with friends and family B & Bing ..
Roll on enjoyable days .. and enjoy the horses! Go well - Hilary
Have fun at the races. I have quite a Kentucky Derby Story - I think I will write it up for a blog post.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have a summer season - we are painting the house exterior and everyone is going some place else...ah me New meaning for a stay at home mom!
I wish you well and lots of joy. Thank you for your good comments on my post - they are greatly appreciated
suZen,
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love life...I can tell. I don't want you to change anything about your writing or topics either. I hope you're being affirmed by us and not frustrated.
So be sure to tell us how your painting and re-nesting goes and all kinds of stories from summer and the B&B!
Suzen,
ReplyDeleteWow.. Sounds like a movie. You have seasons changing,so you have to settle with them, loads of activities. In here,Sri Lanka, we don't have much season changing. So only experience such stuff, by movies :)
And about the blog Suzen, its really good in this way. I love the topic changing and all about it. So please keep moving with your natural beat. I enjoy your writing.
Have a fun filled month of May !
SuZen -- I already commented but realized I missed the survey part. My favorite part of your blog has to be the stories you tell and not just the Millie one's. I love all the stories you tell -- they make me laugh, sometimes cry and tear or two, but I always make me come back for more:~)
ReplyDeleteYou. You. And YOU. That's what keep me coming back here. Your wit and way of winging words into wondrous wandering wisdom.
ReplyDeleteYour humor. Your chutzpah! Your optimism. Your good old fashioned values!!
How can my blog go on with out you? Not easily. But it will have to.
I shall miss you like roses miss the rain in a dry spell. Like Curly and Moe missed Larry. Like I still miss my lucky blue hat that blew off the deck of on that sailboat down in Grenada.
have fun!!!
xoxo

Hi Everyone! Thank you all for your kind encouraging words. Have no fear - I'm going with the flow and hope to keep information and entertaining "stuff" here indefinitely! I know from days as a newspaper columnist, that the freedom to write whatever is a total gift and Monkey Mind LOVES it! Back in the day with the newspaper I had strict limitations on topics/issues - not here! This blog is ME, like it or not!
ReplyDeleteHugs to all,
