Since it is back-to-school time - and even if you don't have kids, read on - let's talk about lunch. Brown bagging is a healthy and certainly economical route to take. This can be an even "greener" experience if we resurrect the lunch box! And the thermos! No, it doesn't have to be the antiques of yesteryear, all metal and clangy. There are really nice thermally lined soft fabric ones available. I bought one for hubs and he uses it daily! No kidding!
According the WasteFreeLunches.org, all those juices boxes and cracker packages we may be taking/sending to lunch mean an average of 67 pounds of waste generated by one child during a school year, not to mention what these "convenience" foods do to your budget and health! Time to rethink this. Get some tupperware type plastic containers that you will re-use. They keep food remarkably fresh.
The drinking problem (not alcohol!) also may need a re-think! Water is an essential part of our life. In North America and Europe, people are infatuated with water in plastic bottles. 88% of these bottles (38 billion per year) end up in landfills. Also the U.S. CDC found some of those bottles leach a toxin BPA which is harmful to reproductive cycles and has other negative health effects.
Personally, I'd like to know what is with our insanity over plastic water bottles? I see women at the grocery store buying it by the case, sometimes several cases. I really wish the government would outlaw it's use except for emergencies like disaster relief and for our troops in war zones. The money wasted on buying cases of it for personal consumption is one of the world's biggest rip offs! Buy a thermos - they have so many available. The aluminum ones are better for your health and obviously saves the environment. It really makes me wonder when our addiction to convenience has trumped our intelligence? (If you are a consumer of plastic bottled water, PLEASE reconsider!)
Other green suggestions involve paper towels. You can cut usage of those by switching to a sponge or dish rag for wiping up. I throw my sponge in the dishwasher to disinfect it when I run it - twice weekly on average. Dish rags go in the laundry - simple! Other than the puppy clean-up era, I rarely use a paper towel.
While I wouldn't really want to give up my dishwasher, I now use the economy cycle it has, half of the soap it calls for (it's the hot water that really cleans them, not the soap) and if I am available I open it up for the dry cycle to save energy.
Did you know you can wash your veggies with a diluted vinegar rinse? It will kill 98% of the bacteria on produce. Researches have fond it works better than a brush to get rid of pesticide residue. This will cost you just pennies compared to the veggie wash and sprays you may be buying - plus, no plastic bottle to recycle!
There is an Eat Well Guide on line, a free directory of thousands of family farms, restaurants and other outlets for fresh locally grown goods. This site is worth a look-see and has an amazing amount of information :

So it's back-to-school time, and maybe we ALL need to learn something???? If you have other green tips to share, please do! I am learning a lot about "getting greener" and hope that you all will be as receptive and eager to make changes to save the environment as I am. Together we make a difference!

Optimizing Life: Body, Mind and Spirit
.
I'm delighted to introduce Angela Chang to Erasingthebored as my first guest blogger. Angela is currently writing a personal development book exploring things such as inner peace, courage, and the law of attraction. She has written a thought provoking blog post - hope you will welcome her and comment!
Optimizing Life: Body, Mind and Spirit
We all experience ruts at some point in our lives, whether it's in the form of a divorce, being laid off, a death of a loved one, or just simply boredom. But how do we go about turning our life around? Some people suggest introspection and setting passionate goals. Other people recommend listing our fears, and consciously connecting with them. A simpler way to think about life is through the lens of 3 major areas in our life: the body, the mind, and the spirit.
When we live life in peace and harmony, these 3 areas are in synergy, and life feels awesome. We feel joyful and energetic. We don't struggle with life – rather, things just flow smoothly. Even when we have problems, we fully accept that everything is still okay. When 1 of these 3 areas are out of sync, we can feel subtle sensations that something is wrong. It may be a feeling of sluggishness or apathy. On the extreme end, we may question the purpose of living and consider suicide.
Addressing these 3 areas and methodologically optimizing each area is something we can do that brings our problems down to earth. Rather than soul-searching, and spending days discovering our purpose in life, we can start to take simple, practical actions that can get us back on track.
The Body
Our body is our physical health and biological needs. If our body needs aren't fulfilled, nothing else matters in our lives. I've met many people who wanted to achieve ambitious goals, but fell short. Some of it was due to a lack of motivation, but they also failed to take care of their body. If you aren't eating a healthy diet, sleeping well, and exercising often, it doesn't matter how internally motivated you are, your body simply won't have the energy to connect with your passions and dreams.
Similarly, I've met many creative musicians who started a band, but lost interest in it after a few years. If you aren't making enough money to support yourself, it will trump any internal motivation. Survival first, then fulfillment.
Taking care of the body involves:
- Getting enough physical exercise that tests our endurance, flexibility, aerobic fitness and strength.
- Eating a well-balanced diet that includes supplements if needed.
- Getting enough sleep and following good sleeping habits.
- Having enough money to pay for necessities such as food and shelter.
- Satisfying our sexual needs.
- Occasional fasting or detoxing
If you feel you have your body needs satisfied, you can always optimize each component. For instance, you may have a lot of physical strength but could use some work in being more flexible, so maybe a yoga class once a week would be a good idea. You could research “wake up” foods that will help you be more energetic in the morning. There's always something that could use improvement!
Mind
The mind is the aspect of our life that involves utilizing our creativity, our skills, intelligence and reasoning abilities. It is where we connect with activities that give us passion, challenge us, and stimulate our mental capacities. When this part of our life is going well, we feel fulfilled. We often spend the majority of the day in flow, rather than clock watching.
There are many ways to improve this aspect of ourselves. Here are some of them.
- Learn a new skill every month. This could be learning a new sport, a new foreign language, a technical skill such as HTML, or building a go-cart.
- Read a new book every week on a subject you've always been interested in.
- Read a new book every month on a subject you already have expertise in.
- Use your creativity. Play games, or a musical instrument.
- Have coffee and a stimulating chat with a friend.
- Start a blog on a subject you're passionate about. Teach others what you know.
- Experiment with new hobbies and sports to see which ones give you that feeling of “flow”
Spirit
The spirit aspect is basically your self-worth, and inner peace. How good do you feel about what you are doing on this earth? Are you helping others, or are you simply being a leech? Are you at peace with your relation with the entire universe?
I know many people who have their body and mind needs fulfilled, but not their spirit needs. They are in high-paying, fulfilling corporate jobs but they tell me there's still a void in their life. I've also known many people who have an okay-paying job but feel great about themselves because they're genuinely contributing some good to the world.
There are many ways to enhance the spirit area of our lives. They include:
- Contribute something meaningful to society whether it is through your job, volunteering, or donating to charity
- Meditation or praying
- Journaling or introspection
- Spending more time with family and friends
- Mentoring or coaching
- Raising children
- Getting involved in community projects and activities
When one area is lacking, it will often affect the other areas of your life. For instance, if you are not exercising regularly, and eating a horrible diet, you will lack energy to improve your skills, or contributing something to the world. This will affect the mind and spirit areas of your life.
The key here is to methodologically construct a schedule that addresses all 3 areas of our life. Personally, I try to come up with 1 thing to do daily, and 1 thing to do weekly for all 3 areas of my life. If you want to be efficient, come up with activities that enhance all 3 areas at once. For instance, learning how to do yoga could potentially improve your body/energy, stimulate your mind, and help you get in touch with your spiritual side. Visiting a botanical garden, teaching a sport to kids, and working for a non-profit organization are other examples.
What area do you need to work on? Do you feel you are strong in one, and weak in another?

Re-Entry
.
"There's no place like home. There's no place like home."
(Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz)
I often chant that on the long drive home from the lake house - maybe to convince myself? I really was looking forward to my wireless connection at home. Not only my big desk with the computer, but now with the lap top I could sit in bed, or out on the porch, anywhere - so a big YAY for this piece of technology. Not having to go to the coffee shop for WIFI anymore meant heck, I could stay in pajamas all day!
So my first morning back home, I took my coffee mug into the den and sat at the "big" computer in my pj's. It had only been a few weeks but it felt longer. I turned it on. Instead of the simple page on the new laptop with only 5 icons, with SHORT CUT TO INTERNET clearly there, I was blasted with an entire screen of icons.
I don't know what all this crap IS! Where is my internet button/icon/whatever? I felt lost and intimidated by the multitude of choices. I scanned the rows and rows of thingies looking for something familiar to click on - where the h is it?! What is all this other stuff? Was it there before? My laptop is new, simple, there is nothing ON it really and my internet button/icon/whatever is RIGHT THERE, simple!
(For those of you who have recently tuned in, I am computer illiterate. It is a total miracle that I have a blog - seriously!)
I see a rocket ship - oh yeah, I thought, I remember that one. I clicked it. I came to my home page. I went to the bookmarks to pull down the list where my blog is for a quick look see. No bookmarks. None. So I get a little panic thing going.
Who took them? And WHY?
They were there a few weeks ago. So I turned off the computer. I'll just start over again, I thought. Some weirdo mistake here. It's all good, don't panic!
Again, same thing. No bookmarks. So I'm thinkin maybe I should try going on that icon button that says Internet Explorer? I think that's what hubs uses. I get my home page ok but oops, no bookmarks there either! Now I'm getting rattled. I know I can just type in my stupid blog address and get there, but I'm thinking of all the blogs I follow - how will I ever find them again? I braced myself and went to the HELP button. I clicked for live chat help. Somebody HELP ME!
Dania comes on and I tell her my bookmarks have all gone away. She asked me what system I had. I didn't know. She had me clicking on things, and whenever I clicked, SHE disappeared. I'm starring at some page wondering NOW WHAT? She pops back on to ask if I'm on the page she told me to go to. I said yes. She tells me to click another thing - she disappears again. This time she was gone a long time and came back kind of pissy and said she was waiting for me to respond. I told her I'd be happy to but she went away.
It was at this point I could actually intuit her rolling her eyes and saying "Oh God, why ME?"
Well "we" imported, exported, weird pages came up that SHE said were my bookmarks only they weren't a nice quick list but had pictures and yada yada and she gave me a phone number to call and said she could no longer help me. My helper blew me off! I swear I needed a drink at this point.
So I did what I do when I don't know what to do. I got dressed and went grocery shopping. I thought squeezing melons and looking for sales would get my mind off of this. It worked. When I got home, hubs called me. I told him I had a frustrating re-entry so far and some of the details.
Welllllll, turns out it is operator error of course. I'd forgotten I was supposed to use the Mozilla Firefox button. He asked me how long I'd be "gone"? Cute. Apparently we stopped using the rocket ship icon a long time ago. Hmmm. When I did go on and try that Mozilla thing, sure enough, bookmarks were there! Life is good, everything is in the right place, I can function.
It was at this point, as I'm calmly working on getting caught up reading your blogs that the circus came. Not a real one. My backyard neighbors. (Same thing!) They have a gaggle of kids, one of whom was having a birthday party with one of those rented blown up plastic jumping rooms. Within an hour at least 50 kids were screaming in the yard that is maybe 50 ft. from my window. To complete the total festive ambience, a responsible adult actually bought those horns you blow on New Years Eve for the kids. The party started at 2 - ended at 8 pm.
I replaced "There's no place like home." with "somebody shoot me!" added the drink and headed for the blessed basement with my laptop.
Best thing is - I have you all in my bookmarks and the party is over!

The Laugh Fest - A Do It Yourself Special
.
There is a Laughter craze going on - a School for Laughter, therapists using laughter as a therapy (everyone knows it's good for you - better than pills!) and now Lance from Jungle of Life invited me to join him in Madison on Saturday for a concentrated 15 minutes of laughter in a downtown market square. (Read his blog for details and hopefully later a video of it!)
I am going to be there in spirit, not in person. So in the spirit of laughter, I found a funny video or two. If you aren't at least smiling by the time you see these, you may need a professional laughing coach.
Laughter does GOOD things for us - lowers blood pressure, releaves stress, elevates the chemicals in our bodies that put us in good moods, it's a good thing. So for this weekends video, have a good ole belly laugh.
At first I didn't think this first video would do it for me - stay with it!
It's a two for one day - this one will make you think about walking in the woods, or not!
Have a laughter filled weekend!

Goggle Giggles
.
I am in awe of Google. Just about everything associated with it is amazing to me. Reading "What Would Google Do?" was such an experience in itself - by the way, if you haven't read it yet, put it on your to-do list because it will not disappoint you! Lots of food for thought about the future!
But back to my awe. Google searches - what an amazing treasure that is! What CAN'T you find? I mean from looking up how to clean screen windows, lowering cholesterol or growing bamboo plants - wow - I can get info on anything in seconds!
The new hoot (giggle) for me now is to see how people searching "land" on my blog on accident. People are out there searching a lot, most of the people doing it out of sheer boredom I'm thinkin' - but some of the searches are just a hoot! I have this free service that gives me fascinating info on who comes to my blog and from where. These searchers asked something and ended up HERE from godonlyknowsgooglesearching wizardry. Could be a lot of them coming here (thanks Google) may wonder just what the heck Google did to them. I'm sure some leave empty and curious - here are a few of the searches - and I feel I should make commentary (you can too!) on some of these even though I'm sure the people will never be back!
Google Searches :
"creepy quotes about forgiveness" ------ hmmm, wonder why the "creepy"? I don't think I've ever put a creepy quote about anything on this blog, but then you would have to define creepy. If you know of one, put it out there - somebody is looking for it!
"when a loved one is too busy - sad quotes"------- Ok my first question for this searcher would be why SAD quotes? Are you feeling neglected by a busy loved one? Perhaps this is a sign to you that you're too dependent on someone else? Maybe time spent developing interests/hobbies of your own will be better for you (and the relationship) than searching for SAD quotes that will only serve to perpetuate bumming yourself out even further?
"muscles adversity" ----- Ha! Have no idea what this is about - I did a blog on adversity though - I'm sure this searcher was disappointed landing here a la Google!
"Chinese disaster grandma tv"------- Well isn't THIS an interesting search!
"forgiveness painting" ------ I paint. I have done landscapes, abstracts and everything in between - however............"forgiveness"? Admittedly some of my art does require forgiveness by the viewer but.....is there any such thing as forgiveness painting?
"where does enthusiasm come from" ------Wow, somebody searched this? Well what do you (readers) think? I am no neurologist, but in suZen-speak, enthusiasm is the result of the good brain bubbles created when you are happy, doing something fun or even thinking about it - ok, maybe its serotonin? - I think you experience enthusiasm when you heart and soul are in sync, and your heart sings and your mind joins in with YAY and YA-Hoooooo!
"fart in plastic pants garbage bag" ------ Ok, seriously, who is asking THIS? And how in the name of Googlegod did they end up on my blog?
"intellectually bored in relationships" ----- Hmmmm, how many relationships are we talking about here? Friends? Lovers? How many? Do you (the searcher) feel intellectually superior to everyone? I know a guy who feels this way and he is miserable socially and can't enjoy any one's company because he is too busy mentally assessing this superiority - which means, of course, that he is not going to join in conversations with flaming idiots, which is about everyone on the planet in his mind.
Pity. I suggest you (the searcher) spend a lot of time with children, lighten up, humble up and be open to all that you will learn from them. Maybe the readers here will offer up other suggestions?
I've had a lot of laughs over the search phrases that bring people here - I'm happy they are here of course, I just wonder if they found what they were searching for? Especially the fart in plastic pants one - that was bizarre! I know the key word thing is important but the search results can be a wonderment! There are more weird searches on the list I made, and more new ones each day. No doubt future blog material, haha!
Have a great week!

Return to Innocence
.
After a blog on inner-child "stuff", I thought the weekend video might continue the theme, at least in the title. I love this music, especially the Native American chanting throughout. If anyone "gets it" about Mother Earth, that would be Natives! Hope you enjoy the refreshing and gorgeous pictures of her, Mother Earth, as you listen. Have a glorious weekend! Hugs to all!

I Want My Mommy! The Ideal Mommy!
.
There are times when "our" blogs seem in sync - as if we are thinking about the same "themes" or topics and expressing ourselves with our own unique spins. It's a beautiful thing!!
I was reading Jodi at Joy Discovered the other day for instance. Great blog (I love you, Joy Lady!) where she wrote about nurturing environments that we can create much the same way as a mother might do - and more. Dancing around in my head were thoughts of mommy, some Ideal Mommy, gently loving me - so I wrote "Need a mommy? Be Your Own!" as a blogging topic in my idea notebook for development. It's oozing out right here, right now.
During the era of my life when I actually WAS a mommy, I held the Ideal Mommy image close as my guide. I had interpreted this ideal as calm, loving, calm, supportive, calm, nurturing, soft, gentle and calm - you get the picture. Days would go by when Ideal Mommy behavior was effortless. Other days, despite my vice grip on her, she totally flew the coup leaving me frustrated, impatient and stuck in the muck. All the while I would be in this state, I felt driven to pull out and get that Ideal Mommy cranked up again - for my kids sake as well as my own. I don't know how many points one gets for trying. I sure did try!
As children, I'm sure there is at least an unconscious yearning for Ideal Mommy, that perfect in every way mom, who had the consistent gentle spirit of a calm loving goddess despite all the crap that came her way. Think back. Didn't you want this? Life Experience tells me the categories of mommies is somewhere between Madonna (not the rock star one!) and Lunatic. Choose your own adjectives on the scale to fit your own mom - it doesn't matter really. The mental image of Ideal Mommy is what I am after here because I think it would be a real bonus if we could create her NOW. Mentally. For ourselves.
WHAT IF we slam the door on the inner-critic we battle with? WHAT IF instead we opened the door for Ideal Mommy to take the place of the critic? WHAT IF we hear a positive, gentle, loving, encouraging, supportive Ideal Mommy voice instead of the critic with its negative doubts, fears and impatience? WHAT IF we could talk to ourselves (face it, we do this!) in the same calm, gentle and loving tone we yearn to hear?
My own real mom was not a cheerleader pumped up "You can DO this!" type of mom. But she also wasn't a "You are SO stupid!" kind either. Even if she didn't say anything at all, she sensed when I needed a hug. She passed on almost 23 years ago but I still "talk" to her from time to time and I cling to the memories of the unconditional love and hugs. And in this memory of her I probably have created in my mind many more hugs than I actually received. It's ok. It doesn't hurt anyone. It's all in my head anyway - regardless.
I believe that the 6-yr. old child lives on in all of us - our bodies change and age but that child doesn't LEAVE. Just as much as we (as adults now) need "play" in our lives, I think we still need Ideal Mommy. We need gentle love. Does it really mater NOW if we didn't get it as a 6-yr.old? We need gentle love all of our lives and it is not something we grow out of - ever.
There may be a lot of discussion on loving ourselves, how much is too much, isn't is selfish, and so on. Maybe abused or early-orphaned kids who never experienced a mother's love (let alone Ideal Mommy) are at a loss about creating what they never knew. On the other hand, others may have experienced Smother-love and bristle at the idea of trying to love themselves.
We are capable of SO much! To make a piece of progress, maybe all we need are the loving, gentle words (thoughts) of Ideal Mommy who would say "I have complete faith in you!"
Whether of not you are a parent, you have experienced parenting as a child. Think about becoming your own mommy - the Ideal one - and show the critic the exit door. Create Ideal Mommy and let her in. She has a gentle, unconditional love for you - always!

Life Without Labels
I wrote this poem in 1994. I wrote it after listening to a tape of Wayne Dyer talking about our ob cession and penchant for using labels, how divisive they are and a million etc.'s. Thought I would share it here with you all.
Simply a Child of God
I have learned the value of meditation and keeping focused from the teachings of Zen. Am I Buddhist?
I have learned the true significance of having a rich history and using it as a teacher to lead me forward from the Jews. Am I Jewish?
I have learned the comforts of ceremony and ritual from the Catholic Church. Am I Catholic?
I have learned the beauty of simplicity in one's life, how lightly we can tread the earth without the burden of many possessions from the true puritans. Am I Quaker?
I have learned respect and awe for all living creatures and to guard the gifts of nature as my only real treasures. Am I Native American?
God is probably laughing at the questions. He did not create the labels and he would not approve of the divisions in His people that they create.
I am learning the peace of emotional stability from the elders. Am I old?
I am learning the value of laughter, wonder and questions from children. Am I young?
I am learning the necessity of change by understanding its purpose as the seasons change. Am I winter?
I stand alone, searching the starlit heavens for answers. As if God's mirror appears, I see myself and all things are in me. I am NOT alone. I am everything and everyone, everywhere.
I believe I am to look for the good in all things and all people. Am I am optimist?
I believe everyone and everything in my life, whether good or ad, has meaning and educational value. Am I a student or teacher?
I believe peace, harmony and loving one another is our universal purpose. Am I naive?

Beginning or Ending a Journey? Ahhh, Enya!
.
For the weekend (entertainment) blog, here are the lyrics to one of my all time Enya songs, which with any luck, you will find the video to listen to as you read the words. (I'm on a lap top in cafe in boo-foo land - the power source a bit erratic.) The melody is haunting but catchy too. Hope you like it and that your weekend is positively awesome!

ANYWHERE IS
I walk the maze of moments
but everywhere I turn to
begins a new beginning
but never finds a finish.
I walk to the horizon
and there I find another
it all seems so surprising
and then I find that I know
You go there you're gone forever
I go there I'll lose my way
if we stay here we're not together
Anywhere is....
The moon upon the ocean
is swept around in motion
but without ever knowing
the reason for its flowing
in motion on the ocean
the moon still keeps on moving
the waves still keep on waving
and I still keep on going.
I wonder if the stars sign
the life that is to be mine
and would they let their light shine
enough for me to follow
I look up to the heavens
but night has clouded over
no spark of constellation
no Vela no Orion.
The shells upon the warm sands
have taken from their own lands
the echo of their story
but all I hear are low sounds
as pillow words are weaving
and willows waves are leaving
but should I be believing
that I am only dreaming?
To leave the tread of all time
and let it make a dark line
in hopes that I can still find
the way back to the moment.
I took the turn and turned to
begin a new beginning
still look for the answer
I cannot find the finish.
It's either this or that way
It's one way or the other
It could be one direction
it could be on reflection.
The turn I have just taken
the turn that I was makin
I might be just beginning
I might be near the end.

The Key to Your Purpose in Life
.
The Creator and his angels were taking a break from creating. Their latest project the Creator named Human Being.
"I really want this creature to be different. Beyond the usual survival instinct, I want to give it extras - upgrades, you know? This being is near and dear to my heart so I will make it's heart capable of great love. That heart will be its direct sacred link to our Heaven. The potential of this being is truly unlimited. Each being will have it's own special key, the key to it's purpose."
"Oh how exciting!" one of the angels said and soon all the angels were singing and dancing, showing the Creator their absolute delight.
"Indeed! I have to go back to the trees and plants, angels. I want to add special treats on the land that will nourish these beings," the Creator told them. "Here is the key for the human's purpose. You all decide where it should go." And with that he tossed the key to the littlest angel.
"Ooooo, you're so lucky!" said one angel.
"Yes, this is so special! Let's all think of the best place to put the key." another said.
"I think it should be hidden" the littlest angel giggled. "If we put the key right in it's hand, it might loose it. Hiding it for safe keeping, as well as to make it fun to discover it. What do you all think?"
All the angels smiled and applauded. The littlest angel was everyone's favorite angel.
The Creator returned. "Where did you put the human being's key, little one?" he asked.
"You told us the Being's heart was the best part of it and even though it's brain could contain vast amounts of knowledge, the being would have to listen to it's heart as well." the little one beamed.
"Yes, little one, so where did you put it?"
"We tucked it right behind it's heart."
And the Creator smiled, and said "Aha!"
And so it came to be that human beings have "Aha" moments of enlightenment...................... and many Aha's when they find their key.

The Power of the Circle
.
Did you ever wonder why, of all the shapes available in geometry (some with goofy names - who named them anyway?) that the moon, sun and planets are all circles? Technically I guess they are round spheres - but why are they all the same shape? Is there some mysterious power to circles?
Mysterious circles of stones appear all over our planet, left behind by ancient tribes. Stonehenge is probably the most famous, but there are many others. Ancient history leaves me to believe there is some power to all this.
I was thinking of the dwellings of Native Americans - their teepee's had circular bases, and King Arthur's Round Table, the protective nature of putting the wagons in a circle to best fend off attacks, of gathering around a campfire for stories or songs. Meetings supposedly go well at round tables because you have a harder time choosing "sides" and dinner parties at round tables make everyone feel included - at least visually - if I understand the Martha Stewart theory. So I'm thinking power again.
This is one of the musings that Monkey Mind has a great time with - going in circles of course.
In Raine Eisler's book, The Chalice and The Blade, the chalice is circular feminine nature and the blade is the linear male. Most men are linear in their thinking while women are circular. (Just ask any man if his wife talks in circles - or why men can't understand how women think!) Men. Linear. Basic. Simple. To the point. Women, not so much. Yes we can (and do) drive each other crazy because we do not and cannot think alike. Different think. Here's an example.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones have a dinner date Saturday night with friends. Mr. J will shower and get dressed. He is ready to go. Mrs. J has to arrange for a sitter, sitter transportation, write notes for sitter, find clean p.j.'s for the kids in the mountain of clean (not sorted) clothes in the laundry room, make sure there is snack food, scan the TV guide or rent a movie, give kids instructions they won't listen to, touch up her nails, fix hair and make-up, and find two shoes that match because her 3-yr. old wears them all over the house and abandons them in the weirdest places. Oh I forgot Mrs. J's shower and selecting an outfit! All of this stuff is in the big circular head known as Mrs. J. It's a circle head. There is room for all this stuff!
I'm just sure the Creator, in his/her infinite wisdom, gave the circle head to the one of us humans that bears children because he/she KNEW that you'd need a circle to hold all the details of caring for said children. There is a need for women to have the capacity necessary for the juggling, problem solving and looking at things from a myriad of perspectives, considering everyone and everything and running a home.
It could be obvious I've spent many hours sitting on the deck at the lake house staring at the moon. Some of the time was actually peaceful. Then Monkey Mind starts up with the why? what if? and all the yada yada it is capable of in its roundness.
So ---- multiple choice here..............
IF there is power in circles.....
A) Women should be in charge of the world.
B) Men cannot multi-task --- ever!
C) There is some limited truth to the expression "dizzy broad"
D) Suzen likes Reisling.
Have a glorious week!
